Barron is living proof of the work of God:

"Inside his cell Barron, Seastrum and others continued to pray and sing.At one point, he recalls one of his kidnappers joining in. 'He stuck his head in and told one of the Haitian men that he didn't want to be doing what he was doing and wanted the joy and peace we had,' Barron said."

"…during their release, Barron said the kidnappers hugged and thanked each of them."

"From his cell, he and Seastrum had been able to lead four other Haitian captives to Christ and minister to the very men threatening their lives."

"Barron says that if God calls him, he would return to Haiti: 'No matter what you do, follow the Lord's lead, whether you are in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, or whether you go to downtown High Point.'"

Amen! Here's what I know that I know that I know: If God calls you to do something, He will equip you to do it.Whatever it is.And there is no risk too great to take for the Kingdom of God if He's called you to it. (And p.s., when I say "called you" to do something, I don't mean like on the phone.And He doesn't necessarily have to set a shrub on fire in your yard to get your attention either.God wrote us an instruction letter already.Read it! *grin*)

Note to the N&R Editorial Dept.: Now that y'all have talked to Pastor Barron, I'm waiting for that follow-up editorial that says, "On second thought…"

"As close as to a couple of days before we left, we considered postponing the trip," said Peace Christian's Tom Barron, who coordinated the trip.Barron had been to Haiti five times, and had never experienced any danger.

Just to be safe, he asked a missionary he knows who is stationed in Haiti about the situation.

Later, the 6-foot-5-inch Barron peered over a wall that surrounded the pool and heard shots he judged to be -- at most -- 15 feet away.

"I decided looking over the wall wasn't a great idea," Barron said.

Will Barron go back for a sixth trip to Haiti?He and the seven other members of the team can't wait.

And even if some of the eight change their minds, Barron has had four members of Peace Christian come up to him since the group's return and say they'd like to go on the next mission trip to Haiti.

"It's doing the work of Christ that makes it all worthwhile," Barron said.

Pastor Tom Barron of Christian Tabernacle, east of Lincoln, also will première the film at 7 tonight, offering it for free.He's serving popcorn and drinks, too.

"I was pretty impressed with some of the highlights," said Barron, who has shown film clips during services.

He hopes the film puts a little reality behind the idea that the Bible is true.
