TOKI BARRON
The 2007 - 08 season will be the fifth season in which Toki Barron will serve as Head Coach of the University of Pittsburgh's ACHA Division III Team.He spent two seasons as the Associate Head Coach of the DIII team from 2001 to 2003.Previously, Toki has taught Initiation to Hockey programs and coached at the Huron Hockey School.In May of 2004, Toki completed the Level IV (Advanced) Certificate of the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program.In addition, Toki was the Head Coach for the Central Region's Junior Team at the 2005, 2006, and 2007 Keystone State Games.
Toki received a Master of Science in Information Science in December of 2001 from the University of Pittsburgh.Prior to that, he also received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University.
Toki skated on the blueline for the Panthers when the team was still playing in what was then known as the WPCHA, and then played forward after the team joined the ACHA.He started skating at age five and played for the Mt. Lebanon Hornets and Mt. Lebanon High School.
Toki counts NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka among his influences, and wore number 85 during his playing days to honor Ditka's greatest achievement as a coach, the 1985 Bears.
