LCC Junior School students and faculty, from kindergarten to grade 6, jumped rope for heart (appropriately) and in memory of our beloved Rick Barrett, for 1.5 hours on February 14 in the Velan Gymnasium.
This fundraising event netted over $9,000 for the Heart Foundation and was a very fitting tribute to a man with a big heart but who ultimately met an untimely death due to heart failure.
Rick Barrett was a long-time teacher at LCC who made a huge contribution to the Junior School as faculty member and assistant head of the division. His motto was "Life is Good" and he truly lived his life with this saying as his guiding principle. He was a lover of history, drama, debating and "Les Canadiens."There is no doubt that he would have approved of this skip-a-thon, as he had a strong commitment to fitness.
