    Prior to being asked to join USA TODAY Online , Barnako was detailed by USA TODAY's parent , the Gannett Company , as Director of News for another new media project , USA TODAY Sky Radio.This gave Mr. Barnako the opportunity to exercise his management skills and talents within another start-up environment.Mr. Barnako was again a primary architect for this technology-driven project which delivered the world's first live radio broadcasts to commercial aircraft.

    Mr. Barnako also founded the first video retail chain in the Washington DC area , opening the first store in 1979.While pioneering in this venture , he was responsible for marketing , business strategy , finding real estate site locations , and negotiations with landlords and suppliers.He also was the founding President of the Video Software Dealers Association.

    An experienced broadcast journalist , he has also been Director of News for two all-news radio stations , reported business news for NBC-TV in Washington , been Business News editor for WTOP Radio , Washington , and is a continuing contributor of business news reports to CBS Radio stations across the country.

    Mr. Barnako holds a Bachelor's and Masters Degree from Northwestern University.He has been the winner of numerous broadcasting honors including those from the Radio-Television News Directors Association , the National Press Club and the Associated Press.
