While the host, Mike Barker, was very knowledgeable, he admitted that he was basically giving us the same lecture as he gave the News editors â€" which was very annoying, because I was really expecting some Arts-section specific advice.
While he didn't say anything particularily quoteable, he did point out that you only have your readers' attention for, on average, 21 minutes.The key for layout is to force the reader to spend that time in your section.He also suggested using a 20 column format to layout your pages and stretching text boxes over 4 or 5 columns to make it more visually interesting.
