Judit Balazs

Judit Balazs is an economist and political scientist, and has studied at the University of Economics in Budapest as well as in Berlin.She earned her PhD in economics from Budapest and a PhD from Berlin University, in military sciences.Her research fields include the examination of social and economic questions of the developing world, strategic and security issues, peace research and the transformation in Central-Eastern Europe.Since 1983 she has taken part in the work of the International Peace Research Association and most recently in the capacity of vice president.She is also the founder and ex-president of the European Peace Research Association and a member of the board to different European and Overseas research institutes.She is the author of seven books and more than 200 scholarly articles.Her present positions include Director of the Institute for Social Geography and World Economy and Head of the Faculty for World Economy at the West Hungarian University of Sopron.
