"We now need to have volunteers for the area to help us as guides, information advisers, and so many other areas to assist the 46 participants in our first try," says Terri Baker, program coordinator for the Elderhostel and director of the Center for Workforce and Business Development at GCCC.

The tentative program touches nearly every area of the Greenbrier Valley and into the Beckley area. Programs and tours on the history of Lewisburg, the history of The Greenbrier, Civil War, Beckley Exhibition Mine, Tamarack, The Greenbrier Bunker, Organ Cave and the Wolf Creek Winery are just a sampling of what is planned for the participants, Baker adds.

To volunteer to assist with the program, telephone Baker at her office in Jefferson Office Park at 647-6570 or visit her office located between South Jefferson and South Court streets in Lewisburg.

Baker also notes that another Elderhostel is planned for this fall at GCCC and she is accepting reservations and ideas for that program.

"We are lucky to have several members of our advisory committee who have been on Elderhostels and we are always open for suggestions on what we should feature," Baker concluded.

Terri Baker, coordinator of GCCC's Center for Workforce and Business Development, will be the program manager.

"We anticipate having 50-75 tutors in training this fall," Baker said. "They can be any age, including senior citizens and high school students."

RTI will be hosting an expo on the project at the State Fair this August, she noted.
