The home ProLogis rents from Bob Baker , president of Advanced Asset Management , is just off the 13th tee , a few feet from where golfers walk.
...
Baker , who has rented his house for the last five years - the last two to ProLogis - spends days of the tournament with friends , and returns to his home in the evenings. Sometimes we come back early and hang out with the people , Baker says. A lot of them actually like to see who lives in the house..
...
Baker says deals made between a homeowner and a company usually are bound by a contract to insure that the property remains as it was before the festivities began. With several hundred people trekking through the houses , added precautions - such as laying plastic or rubber mats over the carpets or removing valuables - are taken. And judging by an unofficial estimate by a Stanley Steamer carpet cleaning employee , the houses get pretty dirty ; business is up by at least 15 percent during the week of the tournament.
But any inconvenience is worth the added income. Houses on the course rent for anywhere from $10 , 000 to $25 , 000 for the week , which would go a long way to pay the mortgage for a year or take a big chunk out of it. One resident said such rentals are tax-free , too. -
