LANSING, MI - Robert M. Baker, president and chief executive officer of Gratiot Community Hospital, Alma, assumed a position on the Michigan Health & Hospital Association Corporate Board today.Baker will serve on the board as a representative of the Hospital Council of East Central Michigan for a two-year term.
Baker has held his current position at Gratiot Community since 1992, having previously served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Mercy Hospital, Cadillac ; chief financial officer at Mercy Hospital, Grayling ; and vice president of finance at Community Hospital, Anderson, Indiana.
He currently serves as president of the Hospital Council of East Central Michigan, in addition to numerous other volunteer capacities.Baker earned a bachelor of science degree at Wayne State University and a master of health administration degree from Central Michigan University.He also holds licenses in the State of Michigan as a certified public accountant and a registered X-ray technologist.
Baker is one of six new members to join the board, filling the vacancies left by retiring members.New board members were selected for their demonstrated leadership abilities in a variety of health care-related fields.Three other members of the board were reappointed for additional terms.
