San Jose , CA May 19 , 2000 - Shomiti Systems Inc. , the technology leader in Network QoS ( Quality of Service ) , announced today the appointment of Marc Baker as Director of U.S. Sales.Marc came to Shomiti from Netcom Systems ( now Spirent Communications ) , a network performance test equipment manufacturer , and will assume complete responsibility for managing all of the company's U.S. Sales activities as it prepares for the explosive growth expected in Gigabit Ethernet network analysis and VoIP ( Voice Over IP ) analysis.Shomiti just announced last week at NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas that it is taking the price/performance leadership position in network/protocol analysis for Gigabit Ethernet networks.Effective immediately , Shomiti is providing its fully featured , full line rate capture , full duplex Explorer Gigabit Analyzer system for just $19 , 000 , matching the price of Shomiti's current 10/100 Ethernet Analysis System.It is Shomiti's vision that it will provide companies with the scalability , feature sets and pricing to enable them to deploy a Shomiti Gigabit Analyzer on every in switch in their Gigabit network.

An established technology industry veteran with more than 10 years' experience , Mr. Baker brings with him a broad base of experience in the Networking Industry including experience with major accounts , distribution channels and a proven track record in high technology sales.Prior to joining Shomiti , Marc directed sales efforts which resulted in significant revenue for Netcom Systems , a network performance test equipment manufacturer , and at Wandel and Goltermann ( now Wavetek Wandel and Goltermann/TTC ) , a test equipment manufacturer that provides various testing platforms for LAN , WAN , DSL , SONET , MPEG and telephony applications.Marc holds a BS degree in Marketing from San Jose State University.
