Midland will begin lobbying for its arts center at an Oct. 25 reception at the middle school , during which Midland will announce its intention to conduct a yearlong study on the interest in , and concerns about , an academy for the performing arts.

Midland School Board President Marvin Bahm said last month that he had reservations about the takeover because it would reduce the size of the college's governing board from 15 members - one member per school district - to nine , and could eliminate Midland's trustee representation.
This month , there was no such discussion. The takeover , which would allow the county to assume sponsorship of CCBC by dedicating up to $4 million in tax money annually to the operation of the college , was approved unanimously by the Midland board.
