    When Herman was the age of 4 he and his family moved to the family farm south of Alamota, Kansas he attended rural school at The Dark Creek Grade School.He and his wife, Ruth moved from the farm to Dighton in 1947.Although Herman considered himself a farmer.He had several other occupations as well.He was an Auctioneer at the Dighton sale barn and also handled farm auctions.He was a Salesman for the Davidson/Gough Ford Motor Co.And later was co-owner of the Bahm/Filbert Chevrolet dealership.In 1972 he began working at the Home Lumber Co. in Dighton He retired briefly in 1977 before becoming manager from 1978 until 1983.He continued to work at the lumber company through 1985, and after that would substitute as needed there and at other home lumber companies in the area.He was a member of the Dighton Rotary Club for 27 years and held perfect attendance.He was Secretary/Treasurer for 11 of those years.He and his wife each received the Paul Harris Fellow award from the rotary organization.Herman is preceded in death by his wife, parents, 2 brothers John Bahm and Henry Bahm and 5 sisters Amelia Neiman, Barbara Hinkel, Katie Kuehn, Naomi Bauer and Marie Schmalzried.
