"No one knew where they came from," said Littleton Police Detective Daphne Baca, who is investigating the case."No one has claimed or called for them."

Photos of the two jackets were released this week.

One is a navy blue insulated jacket with a reflective white stripe running horizontally across the back and front of the nylon shell. It is a size medium and has the word "Abercrombie" stitched over the left front side of the jacket.
    ...
"The manager doesn't remember seeing them during the day," Baca said.

The jackets do not belong to any of the employees or the victims."It means that there are two people who were at the bowling alley that we don't know about," Baca said."They might be able to tell us what happened."

From the evidence gleaned so far, Baca said there are several things that can be surmised about the suspect:

He was familiar with the bowling alley and/or the bowling community, either personally or through someone he knows.

He may have known one or more of the victims.

He probably has a criminal history.

He may have been involved in an attempted burglary at the bowling alley a week earlier.

He had planned to rob the establishment that night.

He may still be in the state.

Baca said those assumptions are based on the fact that bowling alleys are usually not targeted for robberies and that the AMF Broadway Lanes is not visible from either of the two streets that run near it.

The suspect apparently also knew the closing times and procedures of the bowling center.

"My gut feeling is this person lives in this area and feels fairly comfortable that the dumb cops won't figure out who he is," she said."I don't know if there is a code among thieves, but we need somebody who has intimate knowledge who would come forward and tell us what happened."
