Danielle Baca came to the street school her freshman year. She was living in Commerce City at the time."None of the kids that I hung around were even in school and I was getting into trouble.I knew that if I didn't do something, I wouldn't make it either."
After graduation from DSS in 1998, Danielle became serious about preparing for a career. She is now in her second year of studying graphic design at the Community College of Denver on the James 1:17 Scholarship Program. She is receiving excellent grades in her classes and is enjoying the college life.
Danielle's weekends are occupied with a job at Target where she works in the jewelry or clothing departments. She was one of the few employees kept on at the Glendale store after the Christmas rush last year.Target has offered her several promotions , but she has turned them down to maintain a part-time schedule that allows her to focus on her classes.
"I am so proud of Danielle. She is not only a success academically and at her place of employment, but she is a beautiful young woman with strong Christian character.I had the privilege of serving as Danielle's faculty advocate for three years and now it is just fun to be her friend and share in her accomplishments."
