    First Baptist Church Pastor Keith Axford.

    The First Baptist Church in Smoky Lake hosted a Farmers' and Ranchers' Day of Prayer at the Ag Complex, Sunday, August 22, in support of everyone affected by the BSE crisis.

    Over 100 people joined in the afternoon event, organized by Pastor Keith Axford and emceed by Dwight Pritchard of Smoky Lake.

    Finally, First Baptist Church Pastor Keith Axford took to the stage.

    "We're going through the 'rinse cycle' of life," explained Axford."I remember the day the announcement was made there was one cow with BSE -- and the rinse cycle kicked in." Axford said in the Bible, Job worshipped in spite of his circumstances.

    "Man we've got troubles - but I think I'll praise God anyhow," he paraphrased from Habbakuk."Things might become worse before they become better, but I want to encourage you today to praise God anyhow.God helps us to get through trying times."

    Then, quoting saying from his South African homeland, Axford said: "Don't criticize a farmer with your mouth full."
