    John Stewart Axford, DSc, MD, FRCP has served as a Class III Director since 2002.His current term as Director expires in 2008.Since 1999, Professor Axford has served as the President of the Royal Society of Medicine, Section of Clinical Immunology and Allergy and has performed certain clinical studies and research for us.Professor Axford has been a member of the Faculty at St. George's Hospital Medical School, University of London since 1990, and has served since October 2005 as Chair of Clinical Rheumatology and Director of The Sir Joseph Hotung Centre for Musculoskeletal Disorders.Professor Axford also serves on the Editorial Boards of three medical journals and on numerous medical and health related committees.He has lectured extensively throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and Asia and has authored or co-authored over 80 published peer-reviewed scientific papers, over 128 published abstracts and letters, and 18 medical textbooks.Professor Axford is actively involved with research in Rheumatology and will serve as Chairman of the Royal Society of Medicine Conference, Glycobiology and Medicine, held in Dublin, in 2007.Professor Axford received a Bachelor of Medicine degree and Bachelor of Surgery degree from University College in London, England.In 1989, he was chosen as a Fulbright Scholar and performed research in various areas of immunology at Tuft's University in Boston, Massachusetts.In 1990, Professor Axford completed his research thesis in arthritic diseases and in 1991was awarded his M.D. with a Specialist Accreditation in Rheumatology and Immunology.Currently, Professor Axford is serving as the Principal Investigator for 2 three-year clinical trials funded by us at St. George's University of London and NHS Hospital.
