Consider a Special Father to me, sadly I say I miss all the fun in Hams in those day, Still can remember while he was chattering with Gonset 350 Txr and Hammerland Rcv I was at his side were doing some Antenna Tuner ...Till now I'm using his old IC745 & IC751A that are working perfectly till this day.As what we were saying to get matching between the set and the antenna resonant.I can almost feel the warm saying of the way he on the air.word by word and all the joke That are none compare to now a day.

I have been trying to remember and list the following for your information:- John Axford - Born - 25th April 1921.At the age of 16 years he passed the entrance examination to join the Royal Air Force as an Aircraft Apprentice.He reported to No.1 School of Technical Training, RAF Halton during August 1937,where he took an oath of allegiance to the King of England, His Heirs and Successors, was given his RAF uniform and a little drill practice.He become 572027 A/A J.Axford, RAF.After 10 days, those selected for Wireless training were sent to No.1 Electrical & Wireless School, RAF Cranwell.One year later he was promoted to Leading Aircraft Apprentice (L/A/A/).In his second year he was promoted to Corporal Aircraft Apprentice (C/A/A/), and was in charge of a dormitory of 40 apprentices.
