Avallone, MD, FACS, has immersed himself into the field of cancer research and urologic oncology to become an expert in his field while always exploring the latest technology.This respected physician is specially trained to perform laparoscopic radical prostatectomies, otherwise known as laparoscopic prostate surgery.Dr. Avallone has extensive experience using the da Vinci Surgical System® - a highly complicated and technical procedure using state-of-the-art robotic technology to provide a minimally invasive approach to prostate surgery.He received specialized training for the da Vinci System at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and in laparoscopic prostatectomy at the Institute Mutualiste Montsouris in France under Professor Guy Vallancien.Among his many distinctions, Dr. Avallone completed a fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
  
  Dr. Avallone began his education at the University of California, San Francisco, completing his surgical internship and chief residency in urology there as well.With years of distinguished service and medical experience, Dr. Avallone was appointed cancer liaison physician of the Commission on Cancer at St. John's Regional Health Center, American College of Surgeons, and served as medical director of genitourinary oncology at Lacks Cancer Center in Grand Rapids.He holds numerous honors and has published research on topics such as prostatic carcinoma, MR imaging of the prostate gland, sonographic detection of scrotal calculi and the biology of renal cancer.
  
  Dr. Avallone is currently a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, the North Central Section - American Urological Association and the Society of Urologic Oncology.
  
  As one of the most experienced physicians in the Midwest to conduct minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Avallone performs treatments for kidney and prostate cancer.He continues to contribute to his field through active involvement in cancer research and as a sought-after lecturer.
