Philly Hall of Fame president and founder Ken Avallon explains, "We are currently in the fifth month of a six-month Feasibility Survey. It focuses on a facility for the Hall of Fame, both on an interim basis as well as a permanent location.Participants in the survey include leaders from local sports teams, colleges and universities including Drexel, businesses, media and government."

In a perfect world where everything fits together like a big puzzle, the Museum and all of its greatness would reside at the corner of Broad and Pattison, where Veterans Stadium used to sit.Avallon and his co-founders tossed around that hypothetical idea and with the help of Ryan Hopkins, a University of Notre Dame graduate and area native designed a facility (which can be viewed at www.phillyhof.com) that would sit among the four sports arenas in South Philadelphia.
    ...
Avallon admits however that the idea was actually part of "Wouldn't it be ideal" discussions.

He did go on to point out that among some of the Philly Hall of Fame's future homes, was Drexel's Armory."We have considered the Armory on Drexel's campus. In fact as part of the Feasibility Survey, Dan Fahy, the director of strategic planning, and I had a meeting with some officials from Drexel a few months ago.We discussed the Armory and some other possible locations on Drexel's campus along with some other "non-Drexel" location," explained Avallon.

Ken Avallon, president of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame, says the items salvaged from Vet Stadium are not what you'd call collectibles, but things that people will remember years from now.""We've got some of the things that are unique to the Vet.We've got the turnstiles, the big black turnstiles that you go through to get into the stadium. We got some of the aluminum railing, some of the items from the ticket windows, signage, those types of things."

Avallon says these things are important because this is the only sports stadium a generation of Philadelphians have ever known, and if we don't save them now, years from now, there will be nothing to bring back those golden memories.Avallon says the Hall of Fame will hopefully become a reality in the next few years, so for now, the Vet collection will be in storage.
