Bob AssiratiEducated at Stationers' Company's School and Hertford College, Oxford.He has spent most of career in IT management in the private sector, before joining the Inland Revenue where he was Commercial Director for their IT Division, with a budget of £200m and 2,500 staff.He managed the contracting of IT delivery activities to EDS in the first landmark government outsourcing deal in 1994.
In 1996 he was appointed Chief Executive of the Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency, where he was responsible for the launch and development of PRINCE2, Managing Successful programmes, and ITIL.He developed the first government IT framework contracts (GCat and S-Cat) and chaired the regular meetings of government IT Directors (ComCom.)
In 2001 CCTA was formally merged into the new Office of Government Commerce, where Bob has held a variety of senior management roles.He now works with government Departments to support the largest and most complex delivery projects.He sits on a number of Programme Boards, and the Group Information Systems and Technology Board at the Home Office.He has served as a Non-Executive Director at the Armed Forces Pay and Pensions Agency and HM Prison Service.
Bob has been a member of the BCS Nominations Committee, Government Relations Group, and Engineering and Technology Strategic Panel as well as the Products and Services Board, of which he was appointed Vice-President in October 2007.He is a member of the Executive Board for the IT Professionalism Programme, which links to his work with the Government IT Profession, where he sits on the steering groups on IT Skills and the IT Academy.
Bob is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, the Chartered Management Institute and an honorary fellow of the Association of Project Management.He is a regular attendee at ICA (the annual gathering of government IT leaders from 26 countries.) -
