    David Asser joined the practice in May of 2004 and is the Global Practice Director of Littler Mendelson Bacon & Dear PLLC. In this position, Mr. Asser works directly with LMB&D global clients to assist in international immigration matters, expatriate assignments and third country national transfers.

    Mr. Asser has a vast experience in the field of immigration law. From 1996 until 1999 he served as the Press Secretary and Spokesperson of the Dutch Justice Department in The Hague on immigration matters and acted as an International Policy Advisor for the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization service. In this capacity he was involved in many high profile cases that led to reform of European immigration and asylum laws. Mr. Asser provided services as an independent advisor to the International Organization for Migration, a Non-Governmental Organization, helping countries with the drafting of their immigration law and advising them on EU-compliance issues.

    After he moved to the US permanently in 1999, Mr. Asser first handled many individual immigration law cases, including deportation, asylum and family based petitions. Thereafter he worked as an attorney with a large national US immigration law firm where he played a critical role in growing its global visa department in California .

    Mr. Asser attended the Free University of Amsterdam, Law School (J.D., 1986). He graduated with a degree in Media and Copyright Law. He studied theatre, television and film at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles from 1986 until 1988.

    Mr. Asser is admitted to the State Bar of California (2000).

    Before moving from California to Arizona this year, Mr. Asser was an Associate Professor at California State University of Hayward, where he taught Immigration and Nationality Law. He served on the Congressional Committee of the Northern California Chapter of AILA and as a pro bono attorney with the Immigration Hearing Project of the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) and the Pacheco Immigration Project, a joined venture of the Catholic Charities and the Contra Costa Bar Association.

    Prior to his involvement in Immigration in 1996 Mr. Asser worked in the Theatre, Film and Television Industry as a writer, producer, actor and director.
