Valentino Assenza's Bio Melding an acting, and theater arts background with the constant of writing, Valentino Assenza has emerged as an engaging spoken word performer. He takes all the attributes contained within the larger than life presence that he brings on stage, and reaches deep into emotions of happiness, sadness, love, and bleeds his poetry onstage to his audience. A spoken word performance from Valentino, sends you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, you'll feel like busting a gut laughing one minute, and notice yourself welling up with tears the next.
Valentino appreciates being a spoken word artist, mostly because he loves performing his own creations. Performing his poems has lead to publications, as he has had numerous pieces of poetry published in Norman Cristofoli's Labour Of Love quarterly magazine, and has also published two poetry chapbooks of poetry Wandering Absence Il Ritorno with Labour Of Love Productions. Valentino's most recent book of poetry entitled Quiet Confessions Of A Loudmouth was published with Lyricalmyrical Press. Valentino is also an opinion columnist, and is the monthly music editor on Rocco De Giacomo's e-zine Latchkey.net.
...
In the summer of 2006 Valentino became part of a six person spoken word outfit known as The Last Call Poets who have gone on mini-weekend tour destinations such as Montreal, Quebec, and are planning a large tour across North America summer 2007. Valentino has four featured poems on the Last Call Poets CD "Hearing Voices." Valentino also runs his own spoken word poetry series Cryptic Chatter taking place the first Friday of every month at the Renaissance Cafe, and hosts and helps to organize Coffeehouse affiliated events.
Valentino also enjoys live concerts, bleeding blue and white for his favorite childhood hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he is a connoiseur in large volumes of beer, burgers, films, music, and books...maybe not necessarily in that order. He appreciates the beauty of a calm stillness on a lovely Sunday afternoon, and believes whole heartedly in laughing out loundly as much as is humanly possible. -

Valentino Assenza:
...
In his second book Il Ritorno, Valentino drops the theatrics and steps inside himself as he reflects back on an instrumental trip he took back to Modica, Sicily. In addition to monumental occurences happening there during his stay, Valentino uses poetry and short stories to reflect on his past experiences, and how they helped to shape the rest of his life.
All proceeds to the artist.
