Ann Assarsson is an award winning vocalist with extensive musical theatre training and performance experience. A warm and energetic teacher, she delights in introducing children to vocal music and inspiring them to sing.
Ms. Assarsson has performed professionally in a number of opera and musical theatre productions including: Dido and Anaes, 1940's Radio Hour, Merrily We Roll Along, An Ideal Husband, Into the Woods, Hansel and Gretel, and The Release. Special performances include: Nordic Trio (March 2003 West Coast Tour), Gala Dinner for her Royal Highness Princess Christina of Sweden, and opening act for B.B.King at the San Jose Center or Performing Arts. Ann has won numerous awards and honors for her vocal performance including: 2001 American College Theatre Festival Irene Ryan Nominee, 2001 Delta Omicron Best Musical Performance Award, 2000-2001 Aria-Concertos Competition Winner, and 2000 Jennie Cook Memorial Award -Outstanding Musical/ Scholastic Achievement.
Ann Assarsson received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Masters of Music in Orchestral Conducting and Vocal Performance from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA. She has also earned a BS in International Relations with a minor in Francophone Studies from Santa Clara University, CA. Ms. Assarsson has attended the American Musical Theatre of San Jose Artist's Institute, Baroque Choral Guild Workshop, Main Street Singers Choral Workshop, along with additional classes in voice, piano, acting, stage combat and jazz/tap dance.
