   It's as simple as that for Joe Assante, manager of the new Somerville location of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
   
   "I try and work with local businesses," Joe emphasizes. "We try to help people. Everything we do is to try to help you."
   
   His new location at 148 East Main Street in Somerville serves businesses and customers in Somerville, Bridgewater, and Bound Brook. Perhaps the best known is the Somerset Patriots, but Joe says he gladly serves corporations, small businesses, and individual consumers in his market area. (Those outside that immediate area are served in concert with other Enterprise locations in Morristown, Green Brook, and Raritan.)
   
   "I have a small-town mentality," says Joe, a Martinsville native who is a graduate of Bridgewater East High School and Upsala College in East Orange.

   Joe, who learned his customer service focus at the Time to Eat Diner on routes 202-206 just north of the Somerville Circle, says he always asks one question when a customer returns a car: "How was everything with the rental?"
   
   It's not just a throwaway line. It's his chance to find out if the customer is satisfied and, importantly, if he or she will rent again from Enterprise.
