Rod Aspinwall - Enviros' 'founding father' - announces retirement

After 33 years of involvement with Enviros and its eponymous forerunner, Aspinwall & Co., Professor Rod Aspinwall has chosen to retire. He will step down from his current role as a Strategic Advisor in May.

As a pioneer and innovator in the environmental services sector, Rod has been a key contributor to Enviros' current success. He started as an environmental consultant in 1972, one of the first few in the UK, leading Aspinwall & Co. from sole-trader status to an international environmental management company in the subsequent 25 years.Diversity and breadth of skills is something Rod nurtured in the company and it remains at the heart of Enviros' culture today.

After the sale of Aspinwall & Co to Enviros, Rod's interests developed significantly, so he is not only retiring from Enviros, but also as a Professor at Cardiff University and as a UK Sustainable Development Commissioner.Rod is an international authority on sustainable development and for the past few years has been a Strategic Advisor to the Enviros board and management team, helping them to identify and develop the opportunities presented by the issues facing the company's clients.

Barry Newby, Chief Executive of Enviros, said "Rod is the founding father of the UK environmental consultancy industry.
    ...
Many people at Enviros and elsewhere owe a lot to Rod.Along with many of my colleagues, I have benefited greatly from his advice and guidance."

Rod commented "I have decided to make a clean break from all my professional commitments, but it will be a wrench to step down from my role with Enviros after so many years of involvement.
