Michael Aspinall was born at Stockport, Manchester in England.He studied at Manchester Grammar School and Manchester University, where he graduated in Italian language and literature.He studied singing in London with Antony Benskin and in Rome with Vincenzo D'Alessandro and Adolfo Baruti.

He made his debut as a "prima donna" in Rome in 1969 and then toured Italy with Paolo Poli's show La Vispa Teresa.Aspinall, with his own company, has presented his parodies of prime donne in Italy, France, Spain, England, America, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, South Africa and Australia.In Italy he has performed in major theatres and concert halls such as La Fenice in Venice, San Carlo in Naples, the Maggio Musicale in Florence, the Autunno Musicale in Como, the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, etc..

He has also taken part in numerous radio broadcasts, both in Switzerland and Italy, on great singers of the past.

Aspinall has taught singing at the Conservatorio di Trapani since 1997.From 1997 to 2004 he taught each summer at the Belcanto Festival of Dordrecht in Holland, taking the role of director of many operas.
