With our firm since 1989, Mr. Von Aspern and his group have produced well over 500 Phase 1 Site Assessment reports since the inception of his department. These projects include a large variety of properties ranging from single-family residential to heavy machinery manufacturing facilities, as well as building renovation projects where Mr. Von Aspern managed asbestos abatement and lead-based paint surveys. He has also performed Phase 1 site assessments for six community-wide projects, the results of which were used to formulate project area specific plans with city and county agencies. Mr. Von Aspern's major projects beyond the Phase 1 level included the coordination of toxicologic health hazard evaluations for proposed residential and commercial developments, Phase 2 assessments for persistent pesticide residuals at school sites, completion of Preliminary Endangerment Assessment (PEAs) under review and approval of the Cal-EPA Department ot Toxic Substances Control, the closure of a former landfill site, and a groundwater pollution study performed as part of a county planning department Community Development Block Grant application. Mr. Von Aspern obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, and he is a Cal-EPA Registered Environmental Assessor. He is a founding branch officer of the California Groundwater Resources Association as well as founding editor of the association's HYDROVISIONS newsletter. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce. In 2001, Mr. Von Aspern had the honor of participating in a cultural and vocational exchange to Belgium through the Foundation of Rotary International.
