   Mr. Neal Asper, North Dakota Veterans Home (NDVH) administrator, announced to the home's governing board at a meeting in Bismarck on Friday, January 27, that he is resigning from his position effective June 30, 2006.

   He explained to the board that he will stay on until June 30 in order to give them time to find a suitable successor and allow for a smooth transition. The seven-member governing board, formed by the state legislature during their 2003 session, appointed Asper as administrator of the veteran's home in Lisbon on June 1, 2003.

   With the appointment of Asper the name of the position was changed from commandant to administrator. Asper is a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1972 as an infantry platoon corpsman and medical specialist. He is a graduate of South Dakota State University. Asper has 16 years of experience in health care. He served as administrator at the Rosholt Care Center, Rosholt, South Dakota for 12 years before his move to Lisbon. He served on the South Dakota Health Care Association Board of Directors from 1993 to 2001. Neal and his wife Sherry have one daughter, Jennifer (Greg) Springer, Salem, Oregon, and two grandsons, ages 5 and 2.
