"We're looking for people who are in school, people who are looking to do something different with their lives that they need help with," MTV Casting Director Tori Asness told the group shortly before conducting one-on-one interviews.
...
While not a requirement, Asness said the students typically selected to appear on "MADE" usually have no previous knowledge about their goal of choice, other than holding a burning desire to try something never before available to them.
"Just because we're here doesn't mean we'll necessarily pick someone," Asness said. "If we're interested in you and your story, we'll contact you in about a week."
Previous "MADE" casting calls have taken Asness to Miss Porter's School in Farmington and the Greenwich and New Canaan teen centers.

Students who appear to be "MADE" material, Asness said, will be contacted in about a week for a follow-up interview. -

"The basic premise of the show is that we take high school students who have a goal or dream that they would like to achieve," said MTV spokeswoman Tori Asness. "We then team them up with a coach who has professional experience in the area that student is interested in."
The show focuses on helping young men and women fulfill their dreams or goals through professional coaching while simultaneously building self-confidence and positive attitudes.
Sometimes they make it, sometimes they don't, and, sometimes, they realize they had what they were looking for all along, Asness said.
"We are not interested in fame-seekers, models, professional singers, rappers or movie stars," Asness said. "This is for the few, the ambitious - those who wanna get ‘MADE.'"
Descending on the city of Torrington at 2:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, Asness will conduct one-on-one interviews with those interested in getting "MADE." If selected, MTV will contact potential "MADE" candidates for follow-up interviews. Those who make the final cut could be featured in the fifth season lineup of "MADE", which airs Sept. 29 on MTV.
Previous "MADE" casting calls have taken MTV to the Greenwich and New Canaan teen centers, as well as to Miss Porter's School in Farmington, but the Sept. 10 visit is a first for the city of Torrington, said Asness, who discovered the Nutmeg Conservatory's "excellent reputation" in a recent New York Times article. -
