    Mark Aslett joined Enterasys Networks as president in April 2003.He became chief operating officer and was elected to the company,s board of directors in July 2004, responsible for all of the company,s operations, including engineering, sales, marketing, and supply chain.In February 2005, Aslett was named chief executive officer, succeeding Bill O,Brien.

    Aslett has extensive telecommunications and enterprise networking experience.Prior to joining Enterasys, he was executive vice president of marketing at Marconi plc, a global provider of telecommunications and data networking equipment, software and services to enterprise customers and telecom service providers.He was actively involved in refocusing and restructuring Marconi,s core communications business, Marconi Networks.

    As president of Marconi Communications North America, Aslett led the development and execution of a North American market entry strategy.This strategy culminated in the acquisitions of Reltec Corporation, a provider of broadband fiber access systems, and Fore Systems, a provider of enterprise and carrier data networking solutions.

    Aslett also served as vice president of GEC Plessey Telecommunications, (GPT) largest product division, Access and Transport Networks, where he led the company,s move into the optical networking market.

    He earned a master,s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor,s degree in digital systems engineering from The University of Sunderland (UK).

    Aslett serves on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Telecommunications Council.
