    Chief Deputy Attorney Brian Asleson said the county heard "overwhelming support" for the move during a public hearing three weeks ago.

    Asleson explained that the seven people appointed to the lake improvement district board will serve until the district's first annual meeting, which is expected to take place in August.

    At that time, board members will be elected for staggered terms.

    Asleson said that one of the powers that was not granted to the district was regulation of surface use of the lake, such as boating.
