   She is the Principal for Brighter Horizon School of Baton Rouge. Previously she was Principal for the Islamic Society of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama where she administrated the weekend school and helped develop the current full-time school. Sister Jane has been involved in re-engineering existing systems for more than 20 years and has served in both administrative and support positions in Islamic educational institutions since 1995. She serves as administrator and member of the Board of Directors of the only Islamic school in the state of Louisiana that is approved by the state's Department of Education. She is recognized at the local and state level as representative of Islamic education for the state of Louisiana. Sister Jane holds a B.S. from the University of South Alabama and a M.S. from University of South Alabama, College of Computer and Information Systems. She is married and a mother of four children.

   Jane Aslam, principal of the Brighter Horizon School of Baton Rouge, said she would have no problem incorporating the state's standardized testing program into her school. "You need to know where you are at," said Aslam, whose Islamic school participates in a state program that pays for 4-year-olds to attend private preschools.
   
   But some principals are more skeptical about the idea of giving their students the state's LEAP test in exchange for receiving some state-financed students.

   Principal Jane Aslam said the rules required an after-school program, which most of her parents don't want.
   
   "It requires you to have a 10-hour day, which is a little bit cumbersome for us," she said. "It's really a lot cumbersome for us."
