   President Bush Issues Parameters for Embryonic Stem Cell Research
   
   On August 9, President Bush delivered his highly anticipated decision on whether to allow federal dollars to be used for research on embryonic stem cells. Following months of painstaking deliberation and consultations with scientists, ethicists, religious leaders, patient groups, and many others, Bush struck a careful compromise that he hopes will encourage research while discouraging experiments on human embryos.
