   Jim Askew became a director in December 2004 and Chairman effective January 1, 2005.He is a mining engineer with broad international experience and more than 20 years as Chief Executive Officer for a variety of Australian and international publicly listed mining, mining finance and other mining-related companies.Mr. Askew has been instrumental in founding and growing several companies and overseeing subsequent mergers and acquisitions.His most recent full-time roles have been as President and Chief Executive Officer of North American listed Golden Star Resources (1999) and Rayrock Resources (1998-1999), which later merged with Glamis Gold in 1999 and President and Managing Director of Golden Shamrock Mines Ltd (1986-1996), which merged with Ashanti Goldfields in 1996.Mr. Askew is non-executive Chairman of Sino Gold Ltd and Oceana Gold Ltd, and is a non-executive Director of Golden Star Resources Ltd and Ausdrill Ltd.

He has served on the board of numerous resource public companies, currently including Sino Gold Mining Ltd, Ausdrill Ltd, Asian Mineral Resources Ltd and Golden Star Resources Ltd.
   
   Mr Askew holds a Bachelor of Mining Engineering (Honours) and a Master Degree, Engineering Science.
   
   Mr Askew is Chairman of the Sustainability Committee and a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.

   Jim Askew is an engineer with many years experience managing and being a director of mining companies. He is a former CEO of Golden Star and also Golden Shamrock, an Australian mining company with properties in West Africa, which was subsequently sold to Ashanti Goldfields.
