Nine years after studying with the Thomson Foundation in Cardiff, former newspaper journalist Mohammed Asiuzzaman (right) is now training others at university level.
Asiuzzaman, who was previously with the Daily Star in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, is assistant professor at city's University of Liberal Arts.
"It's the only university in the private sector which has a fully-fledged department in media studies and journalism," he told Thomson staff in an e-mail.
Prior to his studies with the Foundation in 1996, Asiuzzaman completed an MA degree at nearby Cardiff University.
"The diploma in advanced journalism I did at TF was really an educating experience for me," he added. "The TF experience and my degree at Cardiff University are now helping me in teaching journalism at university level."
In addition to his professorial role, Asiuzzaman works as a consultant and journalism trainer for media-related NGOs. -
