Brent Ashworth is the founder and owner of the George Freestone Museum, which is home to one of the most unique collections of Scouting history anywhere.

Currently, however, much of Ashworth's collection is being housed at his Center Street store, as the actual museum location, up the street at 257 E. Center St., is packed with items left over from the Freedom Festival. To see the items on display, you'll have to visit the B. Ashworth store at 127 W. Center St. The store will be open most days until 6 p.m. during the month of August.

Ashworth said he puts so much time and effort into the museum because he feels Scouting itself is very important.

"The whole purpose is to help the boys through the difficult growing up years, and give them some positive options," he said.

Ashworth's six sons are all Eagle Scouts, and he received his Eagle Scout award when JFK was president.

"I think it helped along the route, to get me where I want to be. The great thing about Scouting is that it opens up different avenues," he said.

Ashworth is an attorney, and he credits much of his success to what he learned as a Scout.

He said without adults working hard to make Scouting a reality, the whole program might be lost.

"We were lucky to have good leaders," he said, adding, "With dedicated parents and leaders, it really can expedite the process, and a kid doesn't wander around quite as much."

Louis Crandall, president of the Crandall Historical Printing Museum, has donated space for Ashworth to house his museum.
