LANCASTER, Pa. -- Annetta Stainton Ashworth, 101, formerly of Southington, Conn., died of natural causes Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at the Glen at Willow Valley, Lancaster, Pa.She was the wife of the late Francis L. Ashworth, who died in 1996.
Born in East Orange, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Walter A. and Charlotte Barr Stainton.She first taught at St. Agnes Girls' School in Albany, N.Y., then taught English, Latin and Greek at Bucknell University.She earned a bachelor's degree in 1922 from Wells College and a master's degree from Columbia University.While in her 60s, she attended University of Connecticut Law School.Active in Republican politics, she was a delegate to the 1956 Republican Convention.While at the convention, she became friends with Sen.
