Following his father's footsteps, Al-Sayyed Abdullah Ashour was elected the Chairman of the Merchants Board of Yanbu, and later in 1945, was elected Mayor of Yanbu.During his 18 years as Mayor of Yanbu, his plans for inward development resulted in a small town becoming a thriving city, with substantial growth in roads, civic and electricity amenities and commerce.
