"It is our hope that local governments, social service organizations and funders will use the Assessment results to develop programs and commit resources that make the greatest possible impact on the health of the community," said Winter Park Health Foundation President Patricia Ashmore."At the Winter Park Health Foundation, the Community Health Assessment findings from our specific area are providing the basis for our newly initiated grant making program."
As identified by the Community Health Assessment, the need for health improvement exists in the Greater Metropolitan Orlando Area with regard to the following 11 areas: Diabetes and Chronic Disabling Conditions; Access to Services; HIV Infection/AIDS; Immunization and Infectious Diseases; Infant Health; Mental Health and Substance Abuse; Physical Activity and Fitness; Sexually Transmitted Diseases; Tobacco Use; Unintentional Injuries; and Violent and Abusive Behavior.
The Community Health Assessment was designed as a systemic, data-driven approach to determining the health status, behaviors and needs of residents in a defined geographic region.Three components were used to render a complete picture of the health of the Central Florida region: community health surveys (primary quantitative data), existing data (secondary quantitative data) and community health panels (primary qualitative data).
