    Scott Ashmann received the Ph.D. in science education from Michigan State University (2002); Master in Administrative Leadership from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (1997); B.S. in chemistry and education from University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (1988).He has taught chemistry, physics, earth science, and ecology at the high school level.From 1992-96, he directed the Regional Center for Math and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.In 2002, he received an Excellence-In-Teaching Citation from Michigan State University for his work in the undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs.

    Dr. Ashmann's research interests are focused on the professional development of science teachers.His dissertation explored what and how a secondary science teacher learns about the teaching of science from the experience of being a mentor to a student teacher.He has worked on a research project that investigated the organizational capacity of schools and school districts that foster teaching science for understanding.He is currently involved in a research study that is examining the development of leadership in mathematics and science education in the United States.
