Muster 2003 Speaker: Jim Ashlock '54
Jim Ashlock is Special Advisor to the Vice President & CEO at Texas A&M University at Galveston. Previously, he was Executive Director of University Relations at College Station under Texas A&M's immediate past president, Ray Bowen. In that position, he was responsible for external and internal communications, news media relations, publications, photographic services, and the university webpage.
A native of Baird, Texas, Jim graduated from A&M in 1954 and earned his master's degree at Columbia University in New York. He worked for newspapers in Pecos, Texas, San Angelo, Texas, and Kansas City, and was transport editor of Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine. He did public relations work for the airline Trans World Airways and then, for 25 years, was with Eastern Airlines before its demise in 1991. He was public affiars director for Palm Beach County and president of the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce before going back to A&M to work for Dr Bowen.
He is married to the former Elizabeth Scott of Kansas City.
