Distinguished Alumni awardees are Dr. Algalee Poole Adams , a 1939 graduate of the St. Joseph Junior College ; Darrel Ashlock , class of 1975 ; and Steven Perry , a 1983 graduate.

Mr. Ashlock earned a bachelor of science degree in political science and sociology from Missouri Western State College. In 1990 he received his Master of Science in criminal justice administration from Central Missouri State University , Warrensburg. He serves on the Board of Probation and Parole for the Department of Corrections. He is a founding member of the Victim Assistance Network. Mr. Ashlock co-chaired Missouri's successful effort to add an amendment to the state Constitution affording and protecting crime victims' and witnesses' rights. Residing in Jefferson City , he is an advisor to the National Organization of Victim Assistance and the National Center of Victims of Crime. He is working to establish an amendment to the United States Constitution to empower and recognize the rights of crime victims.
