Sean Ashley , spokesman for the Office of State Finance , said the tentative date for the $1.1 million Oklahoma Web Portal Systems debut is Oct. 15.
The portal is designed to give the public electronic access to many state government services that can be provided that way , Ashley said. We will provide as much public information as possible electronically..
Initially , the portal system will feature a new main state Web page with an address that will be announced at the unveiling. The ability to search for people who have state licenses will be the first new feature , Ashley said. The National Information Consortium of Overland Park , Kan. , is developing the system. Consortium officials said a national survey has shown that people want to use their computers to renew drivers licenses , make reservations at state parks , pay fines and apply for permits.
