Jason recieved his Bachelors in Violin Performance from the Hartt School of Music located in Hartford Connecticut. At the Hartt School, Jason studied chamber music and was coached by the five time Grammy Award winning Emerson String Quartet.

Jason Ashley has extensive experience in orchestral,chamber and solo performance. Jason has played with such symphonies as the Hartford Symphony, Alabama Symphony, Atlanta Pops Orchestra, Eastern Connecticut Symphony, Wallingford Symphony, the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Peoria Symphony and the Illinois Symphony. Other smaller groups include the Connecticut Opera Orchestra, Goodspeed Musicals in Chester and Opera Illinois. Jason Ashley has toured and performed all over the United States, Europe, Toronto and Taiwan. He has performed live with ensembles on NPR, which also includes numerous live performances on New York and Connecticut public radio. Jason Ashley also happens to be a very successful and experienced teacher in violin. He is starting his third summer as director of strings at Frenchwoods Festival of Performing Arts in the Catskills of New York state. He has taught formally in highschool and has directed a few after school programs. Jason Ashley is a strong supporter of the classical arts and as an active and experienced African American classical violinist, strives to bring acceptance and love for the classical arts to all communities. Jason Ashley is currently residing in Bloomington-Normal Illinois, and is in the process of finishing his Masters in Violin Performance.
