   Karam welcomed everyone present , especially Simone Ashkar , president of the International Press Club ; Amer Mashmoushi , president of the Association of the Faculty of Information Graduates ; and Youssef Howayek , president of the Press Club , who all came to affirm their support.
   
   GREAT INJUSTICE Denouncing the decision taken by Aridi on March 2 to dismiss surplus staff , Karam stated that it is a great injustice of which certain journalists of the Ministry of Information have fallen victim. Its purpose is to undervalue their role and to portray them erroneously as a useless burden heavily weighing on the Civil Service while in fact they are great journalists who have diplomas and have had great experience and long years of practice in the profession. We are not defending those who were recruited out of convenience but a reading of the Minister of Information's decision shows that educated information graduates and university degree holders were affected by this measure , whereas others of a clearly inferior level were kept on. This is why the LJA regards this measure as illegal and arbitrary , and therefore null and void". He announced that the eminent attorney Hassan Rifai and the former president of the Bar Association , Issam Karam as well as the LJA lawyer , Antoine Houeiss , had been designated by the LJA to file a lawsuit to bring about a cancellation of the minister's decision.
