Instructor Bio: Theresa Ashford has a broad background in education, sustainable development and peace studies. She has held positions with BC's Ministry of Environment, Transport Canada and the City of Surrey. After completing a Bachelor of Science Degree (Geography) at the University of Victoria she worked as a planning technician with the Comox Strathcona Regional District. Her Masters of Arts Degree in Geography combined her multiple interests in cultural studies, city planning and youth. Her thesis studied the production of culture within Winnipeg's street youth community. Since completing her BC teaching certification at the University of Victoria she has worked as a substitute teacher and has developed and led classes on globalization, and social and corporate responsibility. She also leads a weekly virtues class for young children. Her fondness of foreign cultures and places has led her to travel through Thailand, Nepal, India, Turkey, Egypt, Europe and parts of North America. -
