Commercial fishers and fishery related businesses in the wider Bundaberg region will now have greater access to assistance regarding the Australian Government's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (GBRMP) Structural Adjustment Package with QRAA's appointment of Mr David Asher as GBRMP Scheme Advisor for the coastal region between Mooloolaba and Gladstone.
As a Scheme Advisor solely dedicated to the GBRMP Package, David will be responsible for meeting with fishers, fishery related businesses and business advisors in the Bundaberg region to explain the financial assistance that is available as part of the Package and provide advice regarding the application process for the assistance.
QRAA Scheme Development and Analysis Manager, Michael Cain, welcomes David to the position and says that his appointment will be instrumental in allowing QRAA to provide improved service to the commercial fishers and fishery related businesses in David's area who have been adversely affected by the rezoning of the GBRMP.
