Nic AshbyTourism and Education Officer

Nic joined the AONB team in August 2005, she works closely alongside the AONB Manager and other staff to work towards the aims of the Management Plan.Her role is to promote the AONB designation and its uniqueness to visitors, communities within the AONB, schools, community groups and other bodies, she works towards this by developing and organising programmes of events and projects.

Nic works closely with schools in the area to provide and coordinate the educational resource available to schools who visit the Discovery centre and AONB.

Nic will be developing a sustainable tourism strategy and delivering its outputs over the coming years.

Previously to her appointment she studied for a Degree in Heritage Management in Carlisle, worked for English Heritage and volunteered for The National Trust.Most recently she has finished 3 years teaching in Primary Schools in Cumbria.
