Exactly what role Mr. Aronchick will assume is unclear.Initially, Republicans were told Aronchick would help oversee the state's Election Day "task force" of volunteers and lawyers culled from Rendell's ranks.Now the governor's spokeswoman says Aronchick will provide legal advice "should problems or questions arise."

"Maybe 10 percent of Dean's crowd is still unhappy," said Philadelphia lawyer Mark Aronchick, an officer at Dean's new organization, Democracy for America.

"I argued that we at least compete [last Tuesday] in Arizona and New Mexico, but the decision was not to compete," Aronchick said."The delegate-rich states are more expensive and it will take everything the campaign has."

Aronchick thinks Dean still has a chance, "but the stars all have to line up right."

"It's going to be quite challenging," Aronchick said, "but it's certainly possible.I've never seen an election as volatile as this."

The media had fun with Dean's shouting to supporters in Iowa, suggesting that his screams alienated voters in New Hampshire.Nonsense, said Aronchick.

"I spoke with 200 to 250 voters up there in the days leading to the primary," Aronchick said.
