Palm Springs, Calif. , KMIR6 chief meteorologist Sam Argier has won two Associated Press Television and Radio Association (APTRA) 2008 Mark Twain Awards: Best Weathercast Segment ("Sam Argier Weather Forecast") and Best Light Feature ("The Official Center of the World").

Argier started as an intern with the KMIR6 news team in 2003 after graduating with a degree in broadcast journalism from Chapman University.He then went on to study broadcast meteorology at Mississippi State University.In addition to serving as KMIR6 chief meteorologist, Argier also files numerous feature reports for the station.He is the only Coachella Valley forecaster who holds the prestigious Seals of Approval from both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.

A second Emmy was awarded to the station's chief meteorologist, Sam Argier, in the category of "On-Camera Talent — Weather."

Sam Argier is the Chief Meteorologist for KMIR 6 News.You can catch his Lifestyle Weather Forecasts on the KMIR 6 News at 5, 6, and 11 pm.Sam is the only valley forecaster who holds the prestigious Seals of Approval from both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.This year he won the Mark Twain Associated Press Award for "Best Weathercast" and "Best Light Feature" for his news story on the Official Center of the World.

He joined the KMIR 6 News team in June of 2003 after graduating with a Broadcast Journalism degree from Chapman University in Orange County.He continues his studies in the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University.Sam has also been on the other side of the classroom, teaching a course at Cal State University San Bernardino about the Coachella Valley's unique weather.

Sam not only delivers the weather, but files many feature reports for the station.Some of his stories have included a behind the scenes look at the Today Show, a visit to the most haunted house in the country, a sailplane ride over San Diego County, and a look at the nation's fastest growing brewery.He also plays emcee at charity events for the Stroke Recovery Center, the local YMCA, and the Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert.In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, going on a hike, catching a concert, playing guitar, and playing the piano.Born and raised in Las Vegas, Sam is no stranger to the desert.He now lives in the Indio area and enjoys forecasting the weather right here in the Coachella Valley.
